01. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER FILLING OUT THE CONTACT FORM?
After you fill out the Contact Form, I should be in touch within 24-48 hours via email. If not, check your spam folder! If we decide we are a good fit and you want to reserve a specific date for a photography session/event or commission a piece of art, I will send over a contract. After the contract is signed, a 30% non-refundable deposit is due. I’m happy to work with you for the rest of the payment schedule!
Keep in mind you are not obligated to hire me just by contacting me or asking for more information. If you’re new to photography or have questions about something I specialize in (i.e. collage age, film soaks, analog photography, etc), I am always willing to discuss technique or offer guidance. Feel free to reach out about anything! ☺
02. WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND DO YOU TRAVEL?
I’m located in North Georgia and yes, I love to travel!
03. TRAVEL FEES?
If you’re located within 45 miles of the Gainesville area, no travel fees are required. Inquire if you’re looking for something out of that range — I typically charge the federal going rate based on the extra mileage.
04. WHAT’S YOUR AVAILABILITY?
On weekdays, I typically work 8:00am to 5:00pm. I can usually squeeze in golden hour sessions on weekday evenings in the warmer months, but am only available for morning sessions on the weekends. After you contact me, I can send over my calendar that lists my current availability for sessions if needed! If you desperately need me for a weekday event or only have weekday availability, please let me know ASAP — I can always try and arrange something with work if I’m given ample amount of notice!
I try to reply to emails in the mornings before work between 7:00-8:00am or after work between 5:00-8:00pm.
05. DO I HAVE THE RIGHTS TO MY PHOTOS? WHAT ABOUT MY ART PURCHASE?
With any photos I’ve been commissioned for (i.e wedding, event, portraits, etc), the answer is: a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y. You can print and do whatever the heck you want with your photos. You will always get a print release! If you want to share on social media, you're more than welcome to — I love to see it! I just ask that you don’t edit or add any filters to the photos.
If you buy one of my prints or buy an original piece of art, first of all — THANK YOU! Display your purchase however you’d like! However, as the original artist, I own the copyright to all my works. No one else can sell reproductions unless a licensing agreement has been made with me. Please do not reproduce any of my works.
Oh, and please don’t forget to tag me (@victoriaarmourstudios) in any photos you post, products you use, or artwork you display — it really helps get my name out there.
06. WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
PHOTOGRAPHY: One hour sessions (portraits, lifestyle, etc) are typically 2 weeks or less. Weddings are around 4-6 weeks, but you will always receive 10-15 preview images 24 hrs after the wedding! I do offer rush turnaround! 30% of quoted price for 24 hr delivery and 20% of quoted price for 72 hr delivery. Please make sure to discuss this with me beforehand if it’s a service you’ll need!
ART COMMISSIONS: Turnaround time varies greatly depending on the project. Please reach out and let me know what you’re needing and when you’re needing it by!
07. WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
There should be nothing about my editing that stamps your images with what year they were taken. Colors typically won’t be muted, and yes, the grass will look green. I love warmth and natural skin tones. I try to steer clear of the trendy and stick with the classic. Real life images with real life colors — because I believe those type of images are timeless.
There are five things I focus on: the scene, a connection, light, movement and emotion. I will definitely step in and give direction/posing prompts as needed, but I love to step back and just let things happen. You deserve to feel as natural and carefree as possible when you’re in front of my lens. And trust me, after I’ve tripped over my own feet a good dozen times (I promise, it will happen!) or almost dropped my camera at least once, it’s pretty easy to relax and not feel awkward…even if you’re one of those people who “never takes photos.” ☺
08. DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?
Maybe one day! Right now, all photography sessions are shot on location or in clients’ homes! And all art is typically created in my home with constant interruptions (and stealing of art supplies) by my cat, Hazel. ☺
09. HOW CAN I PAY YOU?
If we decide to proceed and you book a session/commission art, you are sent a written summary of the services and details we agreed upon, a contract to sign, and an online invoice. A 30% deposit is due after the contract is signed, and I’m happy to work with you on a payment plan for the remainder of your balance! I accept Venmo (@Victoria-Armour), PayPal, Apple Pay, Zelle or cash.
11. CAN I GET THE RAW FILES/UNEDITED PHOTOS?
No, sorry! RAW files, also known as “digital negatives” contain minimally processed data from the camera’s sensor — they’re typically dull, flat and underwhelming. They’re not designed to be final products and can only be processed with specific software. Plus the file sizes are ridiculously huge! I would never want to deliver a half-finished product and I’d hope you wouldn’t want one! My editing is part of my process, my product, and my style — it should be part of why you want to hire me!
*As a side note, if you opt for any 110/120/35mm film photography sessions, you will NOT get back negatives with your film scans. You will receive any instant film (Polaroid or Instax) taken during a session/event + digital scans of the film.
